I’ve been binging Halt and Catch Fire. I watched the first three seasons as they aired, then somehow missed the fourth. I watched that and was blown away by how great it was. Feeling that I finally understood what the show is actually about, I’ve re-watched the first three, now finishing up a second pass through

I read that last year and didn’t get the praise. It’s not offensively bad or anything, just kind of there, and either the wit diminishes as it goes or I just got used to it. I give Beatty points for creativity but that’s about it.

I read about 45 pages of it for my book club and never returned. To caustic and grim for my tastes. It then went on to win every award imaginable. What do I know...

I love The Third Policeman! I picked it up oh a decade ago when it was mentioned on LOST. I should dig it out again.

I am continually surprised (pleasantly so!) at all the WB teen queen bits that these actors pull off with such aplomb... Julia’s stairwell dance (slayed me), the Margot/Elliot Codebreakers, et. al. It’s crazy how much of this stuff works.

Anybody else excited for them to get on the boat? I just have to say that as fantastic as Jules/Qs dance was, Elliot’s struggle to indulge his penchant for double entendres against the need to show respect for the great cock was life.

I’ll always greatly admire the Paddington movies for bringing any sense of ambition whatsoever. They easily could have said “yep, we have a cartoon bear, a famous brand name and some nice British actors. Now let’s just do some fart jokes and call it a day”

No pop culture this weekend, just 8 hour bike rides through bucolic villages, all cows and goats and bloody goddesses.

Bummer. I didn’t like S2 as much as S1 (the fantasy world side never clicked with me), but still liked the show and am going to miss it.

Also, brief plug: Landis specifically said that AMC studios is on board for a season 3, and that they just need a distibutor - when season 2 comes out on Netflix in January, play through the whole series if you can on a background browser tab to push up the viewcount (and of recommend it to friends and fam who might

This review was sorely lacking a callout to the DIRECT Twin Peaks reference.

I had actually been enjoying this season more than last as I thought it was leaning even more into the absurdity of it all, in what I thought was a pretty fun way (shirtless goon squad! mystery crate! drag race/50's cosplay convention! Cheryl!). But these last two episodes took a hard turn into NOPE! for me. I’m not

Mr. Robot noteworthy music cue of the week: the Chinese version of (Sonny &) Cher’s “Bang Bang.”

Same! The minute Alice and FP shared a scene i was all in and I’m so intrigued about their backstory. It’s far more interesting than anything happening on the show anyway. The parents are so much more interesting it’s crazy. The internet is always going on a meltdown regarding ‘Bughead and ‘Varchie’ (note: I hate

I have always stayed with the show because of the parents. And I am ALL here for Alice and FP stories. They’ve had chemistry since their first scene together. We definitely need to learn more of their shared history.

loved the Black Hood crawling over the couch Bob style in Betty’s dream

After the way he acted all season it makes perfect sense that Irving would have all that pent up rage inside him. I mean, he did say that he used to have to chop a lot of wood himself.

A friend and I tried to do a bourbon shot for every time someone drinks in Miller’s Crossing. I think we both vomited and passed out halfway through.
