On the one hand: PT Anderson directing Daniel Day Lewis. That should have me right there.

And he said it without sounding like he was having some kind of stroke, point Tyrell

Yeah I caught that too and laughed out loud. Nice little Easter egg there.

“No puppet, no puppet, you’re the puppet!”

Agreed! I love love LOVE Edgar Wright’s films, but he really needs to work on his female characters. The women of “Baby Driver” were the worst of his films so far - very little personality or character development. Liz from “Shaun” and Sam from “World’s End” weren’t terrible, but could have been improved with more

It needs to be said: Baby Driver is overrated. The soundtrack was great, but the rest of it was meh. First thing I thought of when I watched it was “This is like The Transporter.” And The Transporter was better.

Stuck at home with the flu, so lots of comfort food movies. For me that mostly means musicals: Cinderella (the Rodgers and Hammerstein version), Brigadoon, Camelot, Oklahoma (the stage version with Hugh Jackman), and Summer Stock. Camelot is such a boring movie. Brigadoon is a lovely movie but other than “Almost Like

Today in hot takes: I hope this isn’t as completely uninspired as season 2!

I thought that too for a quick second but I’d like to believe that by now show’s sort of moved on from the “who’s real and who’s a projection” part of Elliot’s psychosis lol

Loved this episode, even with the played out “precocious squirt saves they day” story, Malek sold the shit out of it... and for this show in particular, to have some quaint little story like this is kind of a swerve in its own right, I certainly didn’t see elliot teamed up with a tyke in the cards... good stuff.

I was a little skeptical of the kid at first, because for a second I didn’t know if he was a figment of Elliot’s mind or not.

Yeah in what’s already been a banner season for him performance-wise this episode really stands out because it showcased just how good he is with nuance when the plot momentum and the mind trickery take a back seat.

I’ve said a lot of glowing things about Mr. Robot over the years but never quite thought that I’d say this...that was goddamn delightful

I think Malek deserves all the emmys for this one.

Just you wait until he reads my script for “Fart College”. He’ll be coming out of retirement the second he puts it down to play the part of Dean Tootsmore.

Interesting to be reminded how mainstream the camp style is, but that video essay is pretty trite. The argument that “camp lets movies be what they were meant to be: entertaining” is ridiculous, and trivializes the way that camp often smuggles in deviant or perverse counter-cultural elements into films whose plot

So...um...there’s this really great movie from the UK called God’s Own Country that’s expanding across the US in November. I’m not sure why this isn’t mentioned, but I’ve noticed what almost seems like avoidance of the film by many film websites (including The AV Club) and critics I follow on Twitter.

Evan Peters as Jim Jones high-fiving Evan Peters as Jesus is probably the hardest I’ve laughed at anything on TV this year.

Here’s a handy list of links for everyone bingeing!

This is probably the first time I find myself hoping that a show changes reviewers between seasons (presuming this gets a second). I don’t really enjoy reading extended analysis of non-diegetic music choices that resembles analysis of inconsistent engine specifications on the starship Enterprise. The way it’s deployed
