Once or twice a week I miss my left turn arrow because someone going straight hasn’t the decency to to inch forward so the cars behind don’t block the entrance to the turning lane.  Seriously, give yourself six feet to the car in front, you don’t need thirty feet.

option 4: move

My car knows to make a sound when I back too close to something, and it knows I stream music each time I start the engine.  It knows how far I can go before I need gas, it knows when a tire is low, so why tf doesn’t it know that when the wipers are on the lights NEED to be on NO MATTER where you live?

I’ve always thought AMC was trying to recreate the popularity of the Beetle with this shape, but in typical ham-fisted American car manufacturer committee-think they got every part of it wrong

They got the proportions right on the MKX, I’ve always liked that look.  The MKT/hearse on the other hand looks like it was thrown together from spare parts

Confirms my observation regarding VW.

Any project that involves adding a rear spoiler

A friend and I drove from Colorado to Kanas City for a bike race. While changing in the car before the race I watched the wind whip up and the parking lot flash freeze, which was kinda cool because I’d never seen that before, but a bit foreboding because poop was getting real. The race went poorly (pretty standard),

Slideshow is okay when discussing squat-toilets.  Gives me a chance to brace myself for the next delight.

I’m actually toying with the idea of a used Volt right now, so happy to see it recommended.

did it in my old Dodge Ram 50 with no A/C in the summertime. By the time I got to Laramie and looked in the mirror I had a distinct pasty/sunburnt line down the center of my face

Now playing

Not wrenching per se but I learned more about how cars work from this short clip from the ‘30's (from when YouTube was made from actual humans and tubes) than any other video since.

My favorite car ever

I missed this one but my very first car was a yellow Type 3 fastback. Not only my favorite yellow car but one of my favorite cars period.

Seems like Fred’s headed south

Anything Renault from the ‘80's. I never drove a Fuego, but I was really tempted by a Le Car. Until it broke down on the test drive. Good sense/lack of money kept me from ever getting one, but I’m sure buying one of these would have made for some good stories once the pain wore off.

local residents offered to help in the cleanup, but were told “This is nacho cheese”

I kind of miss the days before antilock brakes. I learned in my old Dodge Ram 50 that the squeal of locked-up tires was far more effective than the horn in telling the guy in front of you he did something stupid.

My first thought as well, followed instantly by Speedway at Nazareth, which I realized I like just a little bit more.

Early 2000's I was on the bus to go to the rental counter for Fox rental. I’d never heard of them at that point so I had no expectations, plus I had nothing planned for the entire day and was in no hurry. We get to the rental agency and people start to get up and get their stuff to get off. The driver says “No, you
