I remember when dealers were blowing these out for like 6 grand or something, nobody would touch them after they found out about the rollover problem. I was young, needed a car, and went with used instead. I spent WAY more than what I would have spent on the Suzuki keeping the POS I bought on the road. Hindsight is

I could not eat ten eggs with fox.

Hello, Danny. Come and play with us. Come and play with us, Danny

You’re exactly wrong.

I didn’t expect him to give me the car, but I also didn’t want to be taken advantage of.  I think he wanted to start somewhere around 10% and work down, I wanted to start with zero and work up. By walking away he missed a sale and half his Saturday.

I had a dealer ask me during negotiations “how much profit do you thing we should make on this sale”.  He legitimately asked that, pencil in hand to write it down and crunch the numbers.  I said “zero”.  He shook my hand, said “we’re done here”, and walked off to help another customer.  So I went off and bought one of

The Yugo method

Perfect, thanks!  I haven’t heard this song in decades

I’ve always thought I wanted to see one of these ramps used, but now I’m not so sure. Last winter I was coming down Wolf Creek Pass (sketchier than this one because of the decreasing radius hairpin that would jet a Freightliner into the ionosphere) and saw the aftermath of a truck hitting a ramp, we must have missed

I loooove old Jetta styling. The steep(ish) nose and the high trunk lid, that didn’t give a crap about what the swage lines were doing.  Somehow it all worked.

I’m largely in agreement. The simplicity of the dash is what sold me, but I would have to scrape up a few extra bucks to swap out those hideous rental car wheels.

All my Lexus live in Texas

Sounds like we’ve lived parallel lives. I went through the dark tunnel of youth and came out the other side a much better and stronger person.

I wish I would have had that kind of confidence. I always thought “If she’s dating me for my car, at least she’s dating me”

I saw the picture and thought “ooh, that looks like Kansas City”

also the heat controls were levers between the seats. At some point it was mandated that heat controls had to be illuminated, so VW put a mini spotlight on the dash.

This response is your true article.  All of that stuff about your Jeep is just clickbait.

Yeah, I found out about the bad transmissions after the fact. It didn’t have a hitch, so it was (evidently) not used for towing, and it shifts well for a 16 year old vehicle. Later my mechanic said it looks like it’s been changed, something that wasn’t on the carfax. Still, no car is perfect and there’s a fukton of

Weird. In my neighborhood a used EX is more money than the FX. Still, I’ve driven both, and have them mentally jotted down on my “next car might be...” list.  Plus I think they’re gorgeous in a “whale shark” sort of way.

I’ve heard the transmissions are weak, but I think we got lucky with this one.  155k on the clock and my mechanic said “dang, that’s a pretty nice car”.  Knock on wood.
