It was a scene they had to cut from the movie because Ray Fisher refused to shoot it.

It’s been over 30 years since I read the novel, but my memory is that Meyer Wolfsheim is a caricature of a Jew who is one dimensionally criminal. This memory was reinforced when the movie came out and Baz Luhrman specifically cast a non-Jew in the role to avoid the “some would say” anti-Semitism of the novel.

I’m generally not a fan of anti-Semitic novels.

Huh? The second season of Serial was so boring that I didn’t even know there was a third season.

Agreed. Soap was the best and he was awesome in it.

I loved Piranesi. Stunning novel.

This gets a definitive “ok, thanks for letting me know.”

I cannot imagine going back, as an adult, to the Apprentice Adept series. It would ruin warm feelings. The game against Rifleman was a lesson young me had to learn, but now I imagine it’s incredibly hokey. If you’re interested, there a great This American Life episode that features Piers Anthony. I highly recommend it

I love both ATLA and LOK. You’re not alone in preferring LOK. I personally like ATLA better for two reasons. I like that Aang doesn’t want to fight. There’s a serenity that exists in the sequel but it isn’t infused with it the way the first series is. And Uncle Iroh is my favorite character throughout either series.

One of the advantages of being “old” and “out of it” is that I have no idea who these people are. Good times.

This feels a lot like a counter-quitting.

So it’s not just Ray Fisher. Cyborg has been causing problems for a long time. Good to know.

I’ll take this opportunity to tell an old joke.

This is one of the nicest posts I’ve read about the commentariat of the AV Club. In essence, you’re saying that when presented with new facts the commenters here are willing to change their minds. And even more, they can go back and look at previously discounted facts and see them in a new light. That’s unusual in

I watched Near Dark this year. It’s still great. I tried to watch Profit a few years ago and it didn’t hold up. Adrian Pasdar  is talented.

Hey William, you might want to reread the original piece. Leonard very clearly names Ali Larter before he begins referring to her as his co-star.

I read two books that I loved this year.

Wakanda Forever.

I haven’t seen this movie, but I would love to see more movies like Wind River and Hell Or High Water.

I’ll show you the life of the mind (hunter).
