As much as I could care less about these SUVs (I only drive manual coupes,) BMW has always been about practical performance, so, above just about any car company, it makes sense that they would make these M SUVs.

BMW has always been about the riding the line between practicality and performance, and that’s what the M cars are. If you want something leaning more towards performance, you just buy a Porsche. It’s why I never understood the Z4. If I’m buying a 2-seater, I’m choosing a Porsche every time. If I need something

I wasn’t talking about you. I was talking about the poster I responded to earlier.

When I think of bro tools, I think about guys like Gronk. I guess I have to wonder why one is even here, if insulting those interested in cars, motorcycles, watches, etc. is the goal???

Yeah, my 2012 135i’s interior essentially looks brand new, including the steering wheel.

Watches, whiskey and supercars aren’t bro tool things. They’re pretty traditional interests for men. Now Mustangs...

Now playing

No one should ever answer “Who is Chris Cornell?” without a Soundgarden song, and that’s coming from someone who was literally across the hall when Audioslave was recording their first record.

lol. People were saying the same thing decades ago. Guess which they’d rather have now???

No one wants them anymore because of the arms race of taller vehicles. It’s the exact reason my wife, who could care less about vehicles, wanted an SUV last time we got her a vehicle. She felt too low compared to everyone else and felt dwarfed by all of the other SUVs.

BMW doesn’t have time for that shit. Big pimpin’.

Not really.  This isn’t a world beater in terms of power/speed.

Douche Canoo??

The 4-cyl sounds bad, but I’d still rather have a manual with a 4-cyl behind me. Of course, I’d rather just have a lightly used 987 or 981 Cayman, but that’s a different topic.

Yeah, IIRC, they called it a “waterfall” console.

Don’t forget about Volvo!

Yeah, quick response is still important. I’m talking more in terms of throttle control throughout the whole pedal travel, to make throttle by wire feel more like older cable driven pedals.  There’s more granularity.

To me it also depends on throttle mapping. When it comes to feel, I find that remapping the throttle to be linear is as important as the turbo vs. non-turbo debate. I’d potentially choose the feel of a turbo with a linear throttle vs. NA with 90% of the throttle opening being in the first couple inches of pedal

Alfa has a different take:

False alarm.
