Sure, but he was 35 when Magnum started, influencing a whole generation of 20 somethings. Just this past year, I participated in a Rolex forum thread where lots of guys were wearing GMTs because of him, and they weren’t exactly Millennials.

I’ve driven PDK. Still not interested.

My Magnum PI comment wasn’t the slight you apparently think it was. The space program, James Bond, Magnum PI, Paul Newman, The Fast and the Furious, etc., all influence various generations when it comes to things like cars and watches. I was simply responding to those saying boomers won’t want a C8, because it’s

The Corvette has always had ok trunk space, golf or not. This isn’t a Lotus.

I hear you. Brag wasn’t the right word.

Let’s be real though. It’s an appliance. I’m fine with it, it’s the future, and my wife’s next car will likely be electric, but it’s like bragging about an Apple Watch to mechanical watch enthusiasts, because you don’t like the ticking sound.

I just have no interest in buying a car without a manual. Even the Lamborghini I drove with paddles didn’t do it for me.

Because I don’t like peacocking, so that’s as close as a Vette gets.

I think you can be a Jalopnik and like electric cars, but I’m not sure you can be a Jalopnik and not like engine sounds. Heck, it wasn’t long ago we were arguing about whether one can be a Jalopnik and not drive a stick.

Yeah, as I mentioned above, the C8 will be the discount way for Boomers to live their Magnum PI fantasies.

I think you’re forgetting that the king of the “cool” boomers wore a Hawaiian shirt and drove a mid-engine targa. I think boomers will buy the C8 in droves.

Hardly. The C7 sold 35,000 in the US in its first year, and I’d be shocked if the C8 doesn’t beat that. Boomers will quickly realize this is their chance to live their Magnum P.I.-esque dreams, and this is the first Corvette in a long time that seems to be registering with those under 40.

It’s about golf bags, too, just like the first NSX.

I don’t fight sensitive little artists. You’re safe. :)

Yeah, my dad worked for GM for 30 years and got fucked on his pension, which makes me never want to buy a car from them, and I haven’t been into GM cars since I was under 10 years old. My last three cars were Porsches and BMWs, but this is the first Corvette that has me interested...except no manual, which

What, would you rather have more SUV articles?  This is a potentially game changing sports cars.

I prefer the looks of black, too. Two-tone interiors look overwrought, especially if plastic pieces in the car are anything other than black.

I don’t like the rear, but I think it’s the best looking, modern Corvette overall. It’s the first one that has European car fans saying, “Huh. Maybe.”

Whew, not to me. That C7 looks like an overwrought penis-mobile.
