You should call Larry Bird and ask if his mustache will buy it.
You’re right. I meant to say driving enthusiast.
BMW M240i or M2C???
It’s just another step towards losing user control of the car, thus the self-driving comparison. Maybe you’ll also enjoy going as fast as possible while a computer controls the car. Plus, there’s only so fast we can go on the streets, so the fun for many of us is about the control.
I do go to the track, but it’s expensive and a relatively rare occasion. The entire joy of driving to me centers around rowing my own gears as I drive through cities, the woods, mountains, etc.
I’ve lived in Portland and LA for the last 20 years, and I love driving in cities. It’s not like the NSX is a commuter car.
Pagani Zonda, Spyker C8 Preliator and Noble M600 spring to mind, plus the Lotus Evora and some higher end 911s.
There’s a difference between what’s good and what’s fun. I understand that the future is self-driven, electric cars, but that’s also the day that car fun and enthusiasm dies. Are you really not going to feel a bit sad when controlling your own vehicle is eventually outlawed?
edit: I meant Alpine, not Alpina.
No navigation, no arm wrest, analog gauges...I like the 86 more than I realized.
I don’t know, I just always saw this as her destiny. I’ve been wondering for years when she’d finally crack.
Yes, it does say a lot about me. These kinds of distinctions are nothing new, and I feel perfectly fine having strong opinions about it. Without strong opinions, thinks like manuals go way, because people get lazy and choose convenience over artistry. Am I a driving enthusiast if I don’t drive a stick? Am I a watch…
Weird fetish? When was the last time you owned a manual car, and what kind of car was it?
From what I understand, the 4C hasn’t sold all that well, so maybe they made the wrong decision.
I’ve autocrossed with a guy in a similar situation, and, while I’ve not drive one, I’ve gotta say that using hand controls looks equally fun and as engaging as driving a manual.
Ive driven a Lamborghini with paddles...and I’d rather drive a manual with half the power.
It’s absolutely a piety test, and I’m ok with it. It’s like the difference between fly fishing and spin casting. In your case, I simply would not have chosen a G8, if buying the manual version wasn’t an option (assuming you don’t have a disability that precludes you from driving a manual.)
This is why I don’t understand the justification of no manual option in the 4C, Alpina, Supra, etc. Sure, the manual take rate for the majority of cars is very, very low, but the take rate for many enthusiast sports cars is still 20%-30% or more.
I don’t understand. There were LOTS of reasons. Dany has often been talked down from violence by her advisors, she’s always seen the throne as her right above all else, she’s in a land without support, her advisors are betraying her, her lover is the rightful heir to the throne and is now spurning her, her closest…
