I’m not a fan of auto/DCTs in sports cars, because it takes away the feeling of involvement. Even the Lamborghini I’ve driven without a manual was not all that much fun to me, considering. I don’t know, maybe it’s my ADHD, and I just require the feeling of being busy when driving, but it’s how I feel.

Does it eat older, little Porsches? Also, what’s the deal with the side stripes? They may be the worst I’ve seen from Porsche, and I generally like stripes. They look very aftermarket.

Which are kind of wasted if you bought an auto, IMO. That’s the problem with congested California cities. After living in Los Angeles for 15 years, it’s sooo much easier to get out of town quickly and find good driving roads now that I’m here in Portland.  I’m sure you’ll feel the same in Austin, so have a great

Yeah, I hadn’t read about N54 135is in a while, and I forgot they had track cooling issues.  Is yours an auto?  IIRC, I think autos had more issues.

I’ll never forget one of those pulling up next to me at a gas station right after they came out.  I think that may be the most beautiful BMW ever made.

How old was the car you were driving? I’ve taken a bone stock N55 135i to track days no problem.  Don’t get me wrong, sorting the suspension, getting rid of the runflats, etc.  is a good move, but you can still get through track days, in my experience.

I’m not sure I’d put the 2 in the same category, since it replaced the smaller, rawer and more tactile 1 series. I guess I’m glad it exists, but it’s a disappointment compared to its predecessor.   No vibes.

Yeah, some of the earlier cars for a few hundred grand are dream cars to me, but it’s getting out of hand.  Too overwrought and expensive.

Yep, we all draw lines somewhere, but last decade seems the end of the road, for me. My last three cars were a 996 Porsche, 987 Porsche, and a 135i (made in 2012, but came out in 2008,) and nothing newer really interests me, with the dull steering and overall feel.

Yeah, I thought for sure I’d hate that video, but now I just gotta get me a green screen Lambo.

Yeah, he spent a lot of time on Democrat campaigns in the ‘90s, and he has an award named after him at George Washington University Law School. This guy isn’t some ambulance chaser that appeared out of nowhere, and he’s tougher than any other candidate who’s name I’ve seen floated, outside of maybe Bernie.

Yep, I saw that one (seen them all.). That was the first episode that really made me feel out of touch.

I have no idea if they’re reliable, but it sounds like you need a Cadillac...

Cool! Good for you. I’m a dozen years older than you, but it’s not like my friends were driving sticks, either. I’d had a couple of quick, bad lessons from my uncle, but, being into cars, I was determined to learn, so, just like you, I went out and bought a car with a stick when I was 19, which forced me to learn.

I’m not sure it’s the same. There are still a lot of “classic” things out there that people use for enjoyment, despite advancements in tech: Chuck Taylors, Wayfarers, mechanical watches, jeans, rangefinders, record players, etc.

Yeah, I understand that most of the population no longer knows how to drive them, since they aren’t around much, but I’m surprised a “car guy” wouldn’t go out of his way to learn. I mean, this kid knows the tech specs of everything out there, but he can’t drive the damn things?!?! I guess we’re in the age of

I’m curious just how “progressive” you are. Do you wear t-shirts and jeans, or only advanced fabrics? Do you wear a watch, and, if so, is it a smartwatch? Do you make your coffee with your own system, or do you have a coffee maker? Do you wear Oakleys rather than something more classic like Ray-Bans? Synth over

Hey, some people like to wear this:

My best friend’s 19 year old cousin was in town recently, and he is a big “car guy,” so I offered to let him take my manual sports car for a spin...and he said no, because he doesn’t know how to drive a manual! I must admit, I didn’t hate that it prevented him from borrowing the car, although, had he been in town
