I work for a Maine state agency, and they make as many jobs partially remote as possible. The savings on fleet vehicle mileage, gas, wasted time, and externalities of fossil fuel use are considerable. Maine believes in leading by example, and so climate policy builds in government from the outset. 

This is one of the reasons I like my union job. Guaranteed 5% raises until you top out in that position. The union negotiates a new contract with the state every 4 years, so the top out pay is always going up. 10 years with the state and I’ve never hit the salary cap.

As a Gen-X’er this doesn’t even register as a debate for me. The only thing I’ve ever used my Apple Wallet for are airplane boarding passes. There is a less than zero percent chance I will ever volunteer to use a digital id. If they try to force me, I’ll go off grid and into the woods.

I often wonder if there is a real correlation between the “aggro-ness” of someone’s online handle and their level of un-fitness for said aggression.

As a fellow lib, there’s nothing that makes me feel more “owned” than a complete stranger destroying his own property in a fit of pique over some bunch of strangers trying to make sure some other bunch of strangers are being treated fairly.

I’m not sure how I’m going to sleep tonight knowing I was owned so much.
