cue the bitching and moaning. it's a real problem people.

Is it too much to hope that we won't get a tyrade of men in here swearing up and down that E3 isn't sexist?

Are you from the US? Please say no. Even if the answer is actually yes, I beg of you... say no.

If you can't write a female character worth beans, maybe you shouldn't be writing for a major game company as a writer.

You don't think it does? Ignoring half the population of the planet is... weird.

"Because they rely too much on stereotypes? Okay, but they're not going to write male characters worth beans either, in that case."

I find that the true reason why people "can't write women" is that they find it hard to write a woman as a human, as they do men. Be a better writer and don't find excuses

So... why can't someone write women? Because it's not in their experience set? I really, really hope that the GTA people aren't writing from personal experience. Because they have no empathy and are male? Well, yeah, sociopaths of either gender probably don't make the best fiction writers. Because they rely too much

If you can't write half the human race, then you can't write. And chances are you can't write most men very well, either.

Write a character.

Or fourth option: learn to write female characters. Pro tip: it isn't any harder than writing a male character.

Fourth option? You can hire better writers :) Many men can write compelling women just as many women can write compelling men. If you can't, then you probably have way more problems with you writing than just that.

Maybe hire a decent writer?

Nobody is saying that. It's not like this is The Biggest Deal ever, it's not like it's the Only Problem Around. It's just a large disappointment when considering the specific topic of playable characters in new video games.

Yep, no one cares.

So wait, it's alright to just ignore someone based on their race/gender?

Just because you're not outraged doesn't mean there isn't an outrage.

Well I'm bored of people like you seeming to think that not representing 51% of the population and 49% of gamers is a good idea.

How about changing it to "disappointment" if that would help you cope better? I'm in the disappointed-outrage camp.
