Thanks! Absolutely love it. Yep, manuals are hard to come by. I just gave up searching and ordered mine. Really the only reliable way to get a three-pedal version. Quite nice to have a sleeper. I can click it over to “tour” mode, which shuts the exhaust baffles, and tiptoe around to stay out of trouble... then click…
Any word on the likelihood there will actually be an “approved fix” for the 2-liter cars that use the LNT and do not have SCR/DEF?
While the SS at first appears to be an exception (and a glorious one at that), it’s not actually a “Chevy”. It’s a Holden. GM corporate in North America treats it as the red-headed stepchild. It’s not on display at most auto shows. For over two years most of the sales reps at shows didn’t even know it existed. Today,…
I’m really happy now that all the TDIs had vinyl interiors, so I turned my nose up, went to the other end of the spectrum, and bought a sedan with a 415HP 6.2L V8 that gets 18ish mpg... 20 if I’m gentle with the skinny pedal (but c’mon, who wants to drive an SS like that?). My CO2 emissions are 2-3 times that of a…
Thank you for making my point. Their *stance* on motorsport vehicles (supposedly) did not change (granted, they have to say that in order to save face). But that article also makes clear that they DID remove the contentious language. A tacit admission that said language did exactly what SEMA and others claimed. If…
Additionally, if no fix is approved (and there are no guarantees at this time), will the buyback be mandatory? So is this $5k “hush money” to keep zealous owners from shooting the repo guys on sight?
Nit pick... “Competitive benchmarking” and “reverse engineering” are not interchangeable. One might perform reverse engineering *in the process of* benchmarking, but benchmarking is not merely reverse engineering.
This is the kind of article that shouldn’t have to be written. Live within your means. No, you don’t “deserve” a new car. Nobody owes you squat, you need to work and earn it for yourself. I waited ten years after college, getting by on used cars (that all cost less than $7500), until my student loans were paid off.…
Not a misinterpretation. The EPA snuck unrelated “clarifying language” into a rule that was *titled* for medium and heavy duty trucking, but that clarifying language would have applied to all cars. Did you even read the EPA’s response? They’ve effectively admitted multiple time over that yes, indeed, this DID apply to…
A fifth Model X owner posted on April 3rd claiming to have experienced the effect, but remedied it by removing their high-prescription glasses.
Shakedown year... Didn’t the original GT40's pretty much show up and wipe the floor with everyone else?
So, when can we get the recall notice for my in-laws ‘04 Outback? Maybe then people will listen to me and stop riding in the front passenger seat with a friggin Claymore pointed at their face. Been saying for a long time now that this recall is about a fundamental design flaw with these inflators, not just “heat and…
This. I bought an SS sedan. Camaros, Corvettes, Mustangs all over the place. But people rarely to never see an SS.
First Gear: VW is a huge conglomerate. I can understand if management in unrelated divisions that did well and contributed to the bottom line got bonuses. I worked for a large aerospace company, and it sucked big time when your division was in the black, but because a couple other bigger divisions were in the red, no…
I have not seen an automotive recall sent certified. I *have* seen medical device recalls sent certified. I think for life/safey critical recalls (i.e. not Dieselgate), the automakers are going to need to pony up for certified if they want to legally cover their “assets”.
I concur. What I cannot grasp, is that I know people with affected cars. They watch the news. They know the recalls are happening. Some of them even ask me about it. Then they do... nothing. Subarus, Hondas, etc, still running around being used, after they’ve been told there’s a claymore pointed at the driver and/or…
That’s why I ordered a 2016. Money where mouth is. Normally I try to avoid buying new cars, but this is a rare opportunity, and I want the manufacturers to see that at least some of us want this sort of vehicle. Big practical family hauler, great performance, and three pedals. It would have been even more awesome if…
Thanks, yes, the SS is quite nice and a lot of fun for what it is. The sales thing is most likely due to a quota. Some GM insiders are on the SS forum, and without anyone violating any NDAs, the best info we have is that GM has a quota of around 3000-3500 cars per year. Once they get that many orders, the window…
Haha, yeah, saw the jet dragster at OSH, but that came several years after my time. I’d have been all over that if it’d been a working project back in ‘01-’05.
