I’d assume it’s studio interference or an image-conscious celeb refusing to look stupid on screen, but this doesn’t seem like either of those. This movie is too niche for the studio to insist on such a big change to reality, and Portman seems like someone who’d do anything for a role, so I guess it really was just a

Looks cool, although I thought we figured out how to avoid characters having dead eyes in games and in this trailer it’s suddenly 5 years ago.

Cobie Smulders deserves all the success, so I’ll hope for the best almost solely because of her. She is so freaking talented and I would appreciate it if everyone knew that.

Sounds like someone needs to resurrect Zone of the Enders. Jehuty, save us!

Truly my favorite Sandler film ever, and the one where he really best balanced all his talents. Odd, puerile, full of random characters who may or may not be offensive ... but sweet, loving, and genuine. I loved his dumber stuff as a young guy, and I appreciate his more dramatic stuff too, but this is the only time he

It’s looking pretty cool, and I’m feeling a bit better about how they’ll treat some of the goofier aspects of the original. I couldn’t imagine modern Square, who seems to have forgotten what joy is, doing stuff like the Honeybee Inn, but they’re not shying away from it! I’m excited.

They have to dive more into Pearl, right? One of the few remaining mysteries is why the Pearl we know was Pink’s Pearl and what happened that made White and Pink swap their Pearls--and ultimately crack and start controlling her fully. Did White discover some of Pink’s early shenanigans and blame her Pearl for

If he promises to stay far, far away from the writers’ room, I can pretty much promise I’ll enjoy all of this. He’s got great ideas, is a solid director, and is a powerful LGBT figure who promotes other LGBT people (and people of color), so I’m so glad he has such a loud voice in Hollywood ... but just please stop

Reading this was impossible--the movies and their titles are so similar I constantly forgot which was which. Not Caroline’s fault AT ALL, but all I know at the end of it is that the Kunis/Timberlake one is better even if I don’t know what the title is.

She is so ridiculously talented--one of the best parts of Reno 911 and that cast was STACKED--and now getting dramatic Emmy noms? Fuck yes, Niecy.

I do genuinely want this to be good, but I have so many worries. One, almost anytime people try to explain the origins of pure evil, it is SUPER FUCKING LAME. We don’t need a Joker origin story, we don’t need a Hannibal Lecter origin story, etc. It does look like maybe they’re not quite trying to explain or justify

I’ll give it a few more episodes because of the goodwill I have towards the writers, but the pilot was pretty bland. The “clever” zingers and fast talking that Kaling is usually so good at comes off very forced. I don’t know if it’s the writing or that they just cast poorly. And, while I hear there’s a gay storyline

I get that, but they clearly set it up to be incredibly ambiguous—if not incredibly obvious that he probably survived and/or is stuck in the upside down. He’s on the other side of the lightning than the scientists, we don’t see him get blown up (while they clearly show the scientists blow up), we don’t see a body or

The decline in the quality of his movies? I have to put that on him. The decline in output? Hard to say, but some of it is, yes. The Alien stuff was probably never more than a dream to him, although I’m sure he lobbied hard and wanted it to happen, but I’d put that mostly down to Ridley Scott and the studio not

As long as they move away from the confusing and nonsensical XR and XS and whatever naming scheme, I don’t care how boring it is, it’s a step in the right direction.

There’s clear blame to spread around for his other “almosts” over the last few years, but between this sort of thing and his generally shitty follow-ups to District 9, his cache in Hollywood certainly isn’t holding up (and I’m having trouble bringing myself to care). But I will NEVER forget how blown away I was by

PLEASE DON’T SUCK PLEASE DON’T SUCK! I genuinely want Murphy to make another great comedy, and this cast is looking better and better, but I’m still worried.

The omission of Galaxy Quest, especially in an AV Club article, is particularly tough. I get that 1999 is one of the best years ever for movies, but that movie very easily could have been a fat turd but by some miracle is basically flawless beginning to end. The delicate line it walks satirizing but clearly revering

Trailer looks decent, although VERY Dexter-ish like you said. Also like you said, Sean William Scott is just ... great. You couldn’t be more right that he’s almost always the best part of whatever he’s in, and I hope I see more of him.

I’ll never forget “discovering” this show when I was stuck in NYC during Hurricane Sandy. I’d watched a few episodes and enjoyed it, so we traipsed around until we found an open Best Buy, bought the S1 and S2 DVDs, and binged every episode. I’ll never stop evangelizing this show, because it’s just a complete blast.
