I’ve been looking at CarMax lately and it’s staggering.

Yah for sure. Late 90s/early 00s is when India finally opened up their market and other makes started to come in without that more onerous joint venture rule. The last 10-15 years has seen a LOT of growth and changes!
It would be hilarious if they did. Everyone is screaming and yelling for a more powerful GT86 and for a hotter Corolla, Toyota ignores it all and builds a Performance Prius.
Yup. My two grandfathers had an Ambassador and a Padmini, so I spent time in each growing up. That shifted to driving in a Maruti 800 for a while. An uncle had a Gypsy & Contessa, so time in both of those too. I really miss seeing some of those older Indian cars.
Now my aunts and uncles have super nice cars (Audi A6…
These will forever be Premier Padminis for me. A shame they’ve been phased out and you don’t see them too often on the streets of India. Ambassadors still not terribly uncommon, but it’s rare to see Padminis anymore :(
I definitely want to bring one over to the US one day. Super cheap to buy and parts aren’t too hard…
I’m fairly certain that, at this point, the compact cars and the SUVs have diverged enough to say that, for example, a CR-V is not just a tall Civic.
This is tough for me. I’m an adoptee, from one of her orphanages. So, this idea of her as a saint was a huge foundational belief throughout my childhood/teenage years. My parents still lay my survival (abandoned at a MofC chapter house in Western India) squarely at her feet.
“Excuse my naiveté, but I thought we had all agreed the answer was maybe yes years ago.”
the CRV and RAV are definitely bigger inside than their sedan counterparts, but yes, they are technically in smaller classes when you do the sedan to SUV conversion.
I wouldn’t say they didn’t update it. The interior after 2018 is completely different, and there was a mild facelift to go along with the turbo engine.
To be fair, the CX-5 is the new 6 in the same way the CRV is the new Accord and the RAV-4 is the new Camry. Sad but true.
thanks i forgot seat belt buckle burns.
That colour is fan-bleeding-tastic.
Well put and i agree totally. I think this actually looks pretty sweet and im not remotely a truck guy. Hopefully Ford can get this out on time and without major issues.
Oh, he’s driving at something alright. And it’s incest.
If I have to take my new car in for warranty work within the first 90 days of ownership the manufacturer has failed.
“Alfa times a week” - take your star
This is great info for all those people who own cars for 90 days at a time which is (checks notes) absolutely fucking nobody.
It’s crazy to me that In-n-Out hasn’t made it to the east coast. That’s basically the only reason I look forward to going to Northern California for work
I’ll hold that a large component of reliability is tolerance for abuse, neglect, or mistreatment.
