Laneplitting bothers me most in heavy congestion/gridlock/jams. Fast moving cars are not possible in those situations. Fast moving motorcycles are. That is the issue. Period. It doesn’t happen, or doesn’t phase me, in open, flowing traffic.

Perhaps that’s another reason I don’t get it. I see lanesplitters as guys who enjoy the fact that they can do it, fearless, and nothing more than eager to get through traffic. It sure doesn’t seem like many are fearful of the practice, given the speeds that I see most guys going through traffic jams.

I guarantee you I’m one of the better drivers on the road based on my experience here. I can’t react to shit I can’t see that appears because of something that is illegal in 49/50 other states in this country.
