So... this is the journalism version of a multi-level marketing scam. That sucks. What’s the over-under on how long it takes for this to fail?

I have never ever seen one of these “intense coverage” sites by amateur “entrepreneurs” that wasn’t a morass of crap takes, fifth-grade grammar and punctuation and ridiculous premises.

In every way, shape and form, this is absolute garbage. I know that I am middle age and the youths don’t like it so much, but SI was always the pinnacle of sports journalism. Imperfect? Yes. But Deford, McCallum, Telander, Silver, Dr. Z and — yes, goddammit — Peter King made it the place that the writers wanted to be.

So our vision, and this is where you come in, is that entrepreneurs run these team-specific sites. People who are all Hawkeyes all the time or all Jets all the time. And are covering their team on an intense basis, and equally importantly are fostering an intense community of fans who come back to the site everyday
