Kodak didn’t just ignore the digital camera, they INVENTED it and considered the odds of it actually catching on so low that they did nothing to protect their business against its rise, or evolve and market the tech themselves.

Even in its heyday, Kodak may have been more of a chemicals company - despite name recognition being photography. Several decades ago it spun off it’s intermediates (chemicals) business. What’s left now is apparently specialties (chemicals) and other things.
It’s an open thread, dumbass.
Going for a drive today. I installed the gameboy parts yesterday, and the results are fantastic. Here’s the before:
Today is the 20th birthday of my Official Autism Comfort Object™ and constant companion. He’s been on my desk at most of my jobs as a stress ball and mascot, performed that role in college (I often joke that he’s the most well-educated stuffed animal out there), and had a place in my backpack when I lived on the…
That seems unfair. Billy Mitchell was by all accounts actually competent at one point in his career.
At least one of the record runs is on tape and almost definitely was not played in the format he claims. You don’t need to question the legitimacy of runs that happened live in front of people, but certain kinds of inconsistencies elsewhere should very much be disqualifying.
LOL, too late to edit.
I fought for this when others just bow out.
Username checks.
Yeah my understanding is you can more or less just pay Guinness a sum of cash and they'll let you make up a record for about anything you want.
If I recall correctly, he sued Regular Show over that scene -- and lost.
Don’t insult white men in their 50s. I’m one of them, and I don’t give a shit about this either.
But you get certain frame advantages from using an emulator over using the original system, which is a HUGE deal when we’re talking about these kind of records. And AFAIK he’s refused to try it again on the original hardware. Not even under the pretense that it was a once in a lifetime achievement! Just that he didn’t…
I see him at Arcade Expo every year posing for photos and mingling and I have by choice never spoken to him. His in-person persona makes me very uncomfortable, and I avoid interaction with him.
To expand on Thornus’s point. Guinness doesn’t care. They really want no part of any of this and want any excuse to look the other way and move on.
Billy Mitchell is the Donald Trump of video gaming.
TwinGalaxies doesn’t allow emulators, and the evidence that it was emulated is pretty clear. I doubt they reinstate. Guinness reinstating was just a way to cheaply settle lawsuits over something that doesn’t actually matter to them.
That’s what’s bugging me about this. Guinness seems to be undervaluing the actual emulator and prioritizing the eyewitness testimony, which from what I know is basically the exact opposite of what they should be doing
anyone who isn’t a white male in their fifties actually give a shit about donkey kong records?
Wow, he should just get the record for biggest whiner already.
