Every time I listen to Aaliyah's "If Your Girl Only Knew" (which is still pretty often) I think of the 1996 Rock N' Jock halftime show. In my mind, those entities will forever exist in parallel.

I haven't seen it in 20+ years, but sixth grade me liked it.

I'm confused. Was THTL at work for an entire month?

I'm finally reading (and enjoying!) Sarah Vowell's Assassination Vacation. It's been on my list for ages.

Tracy's #9.

Ten :/

Joseph Cotten's another glaring omission.

Nah, that's the sequel.

Or for keeping a straight face during the gymnastics scene in The Lost World: Jurassic Park!

Is there an Oscar for associating with non-creeps?

Now that Gary Oldman's off the list, Ewan MacGregor comes to mind. Jim Carrey's another guy who never makes it out of the playoffs.

This makes me happy, because Yael Stone seemed all but guaranteed to be ignored for her not-very-comedic performance in OITNB's second season.

Octavia Spencer just played the fourth or fifth banana on that series about sick teenagers that just got cancelled. That's kind of bad for someone who's barely four years removed from an Oscar.

I'm not saying that black actors can't get multiple nominations. (If you include actors with multiple nominees, people like Will Smith, Viola Davis and Djimon Hounsou jump into the conversation.)

Yep. And, IMO, that goes hand in hand with the "Maid & Slaves" criticism that shows up any time a black actor is nominated for a subservient role. The Academy Awards loves Oscar Bait-y period pieces and subservience was literally the law of the land for a big chunk of American history. I'm not saying it's fair, but

Probably just Ghost and Jerry Maguire.

To be fair, the long shitty title was an attempt to distinguish it from that other movie named Push that no one remembers. (Why they didn't just leave it at Precious, I don't know.)

Or die tryin'
