Asylum is the only one I've enjoyed so far, but I still haven't played Knight. City was a huge disappointment for me. I got way into the claustrophobia of Asylum, the tight spaces, the Metroidvania retracing my steps. It felt like I was a predator skulking my prey more than just a strong guy gliding around in the open

I didn't know about this sale so I just looked it up and my eyes lit up at Virtue's Last Reward for $12 and Ducktales Remastered for $5. Those are way worth it for anyone who hasn't given either a shot yet, and with Zero Time Dilemma coming out in only a couple of months, now is the perfect time to get caught up on Vir

I only bought the Toad amiibo for two reasons:
1) It's adorable.
2) It's essentially the only bit of DLC for Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

It drives me crazy some weekends. Nobody believes me that the show was genuinely delightful, and I would HAPPILY pay to legally rent/own the series to show them if only there were some way to do so! It's not even available on iTunes or Google Play like other TV shows.

I know when that Chandler Bling / That can only mean fighting

Most of those are at least represented in the support, if not the fighters. There's a whole arena dedicated to Magikarp and it is the very best stage. Gold Magikarp statues and li'l Magikarps flopping around outside the ring.

No, at least not yet. Every amiibo figurine, regardless of what the character is, just gives you a new piece of clothing or a new title for your fighter or some money to spend in the costume shop (trainers can get dessed up, not pokémon, unfortunately). The only character unlocked by any amiibo product so far is

While water attacks seemed effective on fire-type fighters, I feel like that might have just been me projecting my expectations on the game. There are four "types" of fighters in the game: "Normal" (Pikachu, Braixen, Lucario), "Speed" (Pikachu Libre, Weavile, Sceptile), "Power" (Machamp, Garchomp, Charizard), and

Also, Mewtwo and Shadow Mewtwo are unlocked as you play through the game, and their placement on the character select clearly shows space for four more characters (five if you eliminate the random option in the center)

That must have been put in by the edit team after I submitted to review. The duel phase is more like a Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter. Strict 2D plane, no rolling along the z-axis.

There are another 30 as support, like when you'd have your teammates in Marvel vs Capcom hop in and shoot off one attack. Eevee gives you a quick stat boost, Electrode auto-counters attacks within its radius, and my personal favorite Diglett burrows underground to attack the opponent from under their feet.

When Agnello and I used to battle Pokémon Diamond/Pearl after work back in '08, his Chimchar was named after Peter Gabriel. Once I saw that, I deliberately named my next Parachisu "SHOCK!" so we could play out the bridge of "Shock the Monkey" every battle.

My girlfriend kept calling that one "goth Lumiére." I was okay with this.

From what I've read, the arcade cabinet is unprofitable because of how long players can stay on with a single token/payment. Arcades thrive on a constant influx of money, which is why Smash TV stayed in American arcades for so long (that game practically sucked a whole dollar from you every 90 seconds). A decent

The game spends very little time, if any, with your pokémon "alone again" or "breaking the chains," so Dokken fans may find this fighter lacking. Supporters of crackers dipped in chocolate, though, may appreciate the subtle nuance to Pokkén that is simultaneously alluring and at ease.

I'm not ashamed to admit that, when I first heard "Formed a Band" in 2006, I thought it was a fun little joke of a track but the "gimmick" couldn't last for an entire album. Once I dug in and actually listened to Bang Bang Rock & Roll, though, I was completely blown away. The confessional tone, the devil may care

The plot twist is AMAZING(ly distasteful)

If the platform owner provided substantial funding for either the game or the studio, there's likely a contractual obligation to keep it locked to their platform (see the argument of why Bayonetta 2 is a Nintendo-exclusive, in that Nintendo funded the development). For third-party developers, it might simply be too

I remember when they first revealed one of the great fairies in an early trailer for the game, I was in a chat window with Anthony John Agnello and one of us typed in all caps "OF COURSE THEY USED THE OCARINA OF TIME GREAT FAIRIES," and then we pondered about jiggle physics brought over from Dead Or Alive Xtreme Beach
