How do you crash?

In 20 years we will say this was inevitable. There were simply too many mid size cars and not enough empty-nested, middle-class, 50 year old families to go around. (or who ever is buying midsizers now). There were many luxury folk, many aging middle class folk who still had kids, and many young people in used 2006

Man where is GM finding all that profit?

actually, they are fairly efficient. perhaps you meant, difficult to transmit to far away energy markets? or maybe try the “they don’t work at night” argument.

You answered your own question there. If there aren’t enough rare earth metals then this doesn’t work. So that’s why Tesla doesn’t use rare earth materials. If you want something to worry about go worry about all the wasted elements in the PCBs that are sitting in landfills the world over.

So spartan. can’t tell if it’s a good thing or not.

Doesn’t the front of “Adam” look an awful lot like a micro Macan?

The GTR really is the “new NSX” in that it’s the same car, tweaked almost every year, soldiering on until the end of time.

Did somebody at Lincoln design take crazy pills? This is the second car of theirs that looks GOOD. Not just okay, or so-so, but damn good. What is the world coming to...

so what’s the thinking here, $250k after state and federal is like what. $160k, then you factor in living expenses and maxed out 401ks & IRAs for two people plus the fact that a house anywhere in the SFO area is going to be north of $750k??? So magically all that money is gone...

I think because the regulators didn’t envision the Tesla approach. They assumed automakers would try to make them as cheap as possible, aka the Leaf. So this wasn’t supposed to be a problem.

Exactly. Would I rather live on the light-rail/Subway line and commute in peace downtown. Or drive a beater but live farther out? I’m going to choose the former until I can afford a quiet comfortable auto-cruise controlled Volvo/Tesla/Mercedes etc...

re: apartment buildings, yeah this is going to take years to get chargers installed. Maybe even local city/state laws requiring it in all new construction and retrofitting them gradually (over a decade or more) into existing apartment complexes/buildings.

The only options worth getting are the heated seats(front and rear!)/mirrors and the radar cruise control. The radar cruise will change your sweet american commute, and road trips, and grocery runs.

Dear @Jalopnik, (because here seems as good a place as any)

The price will bottom lower than it is today because at this level there’s a daily surplus in the millions of barrels. At prices around $15-20/barrel only the Saudi’s, and a few other projects can pump without a loss. This low price will also cut production dramatically and squeeze refineries to the breaking point.

As someone who regularly gets to drive an XC70, the only option worth fussing over is Adaptive Cruise. Also the bluetooth is painless and the seats are a dream.

exactly. but I think we are assuming that people who buy luxury trucks don’t have the cash flow of your average 5 series buyer. It’s some kind of hangover association between trucks and working class. Even if that’s patently false at this point.

Is this the new Lincoln? I feel like it’s all grandparents drive these days...

So I can buy this or a loaded Outback, space is not the concern. Which would you get?

I can’t quite place it, but something isn’t quite right with the bottom of the wheel and the gear selector... Together they feel slightly, truck-ish which is probably good for the target demo. but still...
