@socket7: When I was trying to drum up side business, I did just that. Then I went home and looked at Craigslist and realized that it would be very difficult to compete with the "I'll fix any problem, free pickup, same-day service for $25!" companies. :/ Half of them are probably a bait-n-switch job that will

Facebook has been bugging people for phone numbers already. A phone number was the difference between "low" and "high" security in that annoying dialog box I kept seeing.

@DrSquirrel: I agree with you. Years ago when I was single, I would giggle with I saw someone put "Blogger" under their occupation. In my experience, 99% of them were unemployed and self absorbed. :/

Look at the C|Net article linked up above.. the guy has a fan (or a sock puppet) making some ridiculous claims.

@Sebastian Guerra: That's about what I see. Sometimes I'm up to 2.5mbit down/1.5mbit up with my iPhone 4. I do not have a problem with dropped calls, and I have had quite a few 1hr+ phone calls recently, dealing with a warranty exchange for a TV and a house refinance. No dropped calls at all.

@das7002: I don't know if there's a poll on it, but in my circle, it happens a lot more often than I ever thought it would. I have frequently found myself having to bounce into another app while on a call. It's one of those "Don't know how useful it is until you have to do it" kinds of things. Your experiences might

I read the headline and the first thing I thought about was Tampa Bay and how these things would get smooshed within seconds.

Or you can use this for free:

After hearing the same rumor from the same vague "sources briefed on the matter" from the WSJ all these times, I'm not even going to think about it until Steve Jobs stands on stage and says "It is so" or it appears on Apple's website.

Bah! I'm still using SoundJam MP! Take that, iTunes!

Has anybody uncovered the FCC documents on this yet? That's usually how new phones are outed...

@Predacons_Terrorize: I like the $0.05 slots that happen to be right near the cave the waitstaff comes out of. $1 tip per drink, and I'm happily plastered in no time flat. And I only spend about $5 on the slot machine. I can live with that. :)

This might help solve the "Yuppie 911" problem of people setting off SPOT devices when they simply wanted a ride back to their camp. Now they can text a friend instead and not set off a five agency search & rescue mission.

@Geisrud: Lucky. We do fire/ems and have a nursing home in our district. I'm all too familiar with the 3am little old lady calls.... unfortunately. ;-)

It's back as "iRenew" - probably not the same company, but same ridiculous scam concept.

@Geisrud: We have to take our own anyway.
