I actually loved it. I thought it was meant less for aesthetic effect and more as a political statement. It may have been red, but add the coat and the boots, and it felt like armour to me. She’s subtly reminding us to do battle with the GOP and Trumpet.

Thing is, that was a narrative failure as well. Because if someone had a family or connections that were as privileged and influential as the Gilmores (and Huntzbergers), they actually would have gotten her opportunities which would mean that she was doing better than was portrayed.
