I see your point, and I agree that I don’t think everyone is anti-immigrant in the UK, particularly in the south. But there’s a vocal enough population that is extremely anti-immigrant (even if it is a minority), that a lot of immigrants can feel uncomfortable living their lives. You should also recognize that this is

YES. The open and casual racism in Scotland kills me (as an American). I’ve honestly never seen/heard anything like it in the places I’ve lived in the US (in terms of how people speak at least).

You can so do this! I actually think you have a very reasonable time frame to work with, even with the breaks/partial weeks. I say this as someone submitting their PhD thesis tomorrow (in the biological sciences, and mine is ~45,000 words total, and the whole thing was written in under 3 months).

Thanks. I mean you've said all you can say—it's sad that other people have been in the same situation, but, it feels as though there is nothing that can be done (except try and calmly warn recruits that things can get insane and sound like the crazy aunt). Physically, I'm on the other side of the situation (jumped

Totally agree with everything you've said, except for one thing. Being in a relationship inside your field isn't any better.

I should add that we copied down her presented identity details (d.o.b., address), and also offered our own up to her to even out the exchange!

I've never used an official maid service in nyc. But the bf and I did use craigslist. Sounds super sketchy, but it is waaaaay way cheaper, if money is a concern.

Congratulations!!! Enjoy all the most wonderful budding hormones, and long may the happiness last :)

Is it possible that you only feel this way because your ex wasn't really right for you, or you didn't really love him?

Late to the party on this one, but I have been in this exact position for awhile, and thought I would weigh in.

Just wanted to give some support on this, as I totally agree. The name thing drives me crazy, but the heritage thing drives me crazier.

Ooooh. That sounds like my mom, who spent my whole childhood comparing me to other children and telling me HOW MUCH bigger I was (I wasn't). Which, not surprisingly, caused me to be anorexic by the time I was an adolescent because I thought I could only be liked or loved if I was super thin! And then she somehow

I would say, try and talk to them one more time, explaining how it affects your life. Don't get angry, just appeal for a compromise. I mean, they really sound like jerks (broom affecting his performance, <eyeroll>), but jerks don't respond well to threats.

I have had amazing and horrifying trips. To be honest, the difference has almost always been about the dosage. Just like the movies. Start small. When you think, hey, I don't think is working, stop. Don't take more. If you don't get a real trip, you should try a slightly larger dose another day.

Fourth (almost fifth) year biology PhD student here. I think I can help advise on everything except the forestry/agriculture aspect of things. If that's a field you want to seriously consider, you may not need a PhD.

Agreed, venting and fantasizing really can alleviate problems a lot!

A bit late to the party, but throwing my support your way in this anti-Doug fiasco that seems to weekly consume Jezebel.

Glad to know there are at least a few other people who are bewildered by the EXTREME OMG DIE DOUG DIE.

I like my inlaws, but I'm not in a relationship with them, so yes, that would totally drive me crazy too! Unfortunately, as it's their house, you really don't have an option regarding the noise or smoking.

Obviously biased opinion here, but yes, make some smaller sizes! I'm a size 3.5-4.5 and I see a lot of rings on Etsy I like, but very few, if any, come in such small sizes (less than 5). Reaching the smaller and larger ends of the market could be a good thing!
