In Octopath, they gave the various areas/towns their own relatively strong dialects not just limited to this awkward one. There are also towns with an implied southern drawl. Strangely, the Merchant’s hometown (a port town) seems to have a midwestern accent (why not go with a classic pirate accent I’ll never know).

I agree that I want to see everything on Switch rather than 3DS at this point.
