The NYT maintains a decent stable of free games, it's a traffic stream for ad revenue. Stop doing your own research

Exactly. It’s a bummer from a creative standpoint (I am fully aware that his game is not particularly notable, as I think many of us grew up playing Mastermind), but for heaven’s sake, can you blame the guy? Were I in his shoes, I’d absolutely sell it too. Get a paycheck before the fad dies, dude!

He didn’t want to make money off the players who played the game. He never said he wouldn’t sell it.

Listen, it’s possible that somebody’s opinion on something changes once they’re offered $1m+ to change it.

Now red and blue coatings are locked behind a paywall lolol

um.....Shawshank?

It’s very weird to see It Takes Two listed here. The most charitable assessments of the game I’ve seen have been along the lines of “the co-op gameplay is really inventive ... If you can look past the awful writing and performances.” The least charitable ones have been along the lines of “The writing is so bad, so

The best story I experienced this year was from Outer Wild’s DLC, Echoes of the Eye.

Nintendo and Sony have a long history of using political pressure to prevent other game companies from making in-roads into Japan. It’s not that they always understand the market best, it’s that they have made sure CERO is extremely harsh towards foreign games and (back in the 90s and early 2000s especially) PC games.

I have a young elementary aged daughter. I’ve mostly kept her pretty distant from video games - we play together here and there and she’s familiar with Nintendo stuff and loves Animal Crossing (I love Nintendo’s obtuse online features for this very reason, btw,) but has never had gaming as part of her defining

And also not a comp structurally. You’re comparing the aggregate construction cost of a government funded/operated facility versus the perceived net present value of cash flows tied to a private business. It’s completely irrelevant.

US$4mil for a gas station? That’s stupid. Unless there’s a small mall attached there’s no way a gas station costs that much.

I agree with this. This is for the adult who didn’t keep their N64 system and hasn’t played these games elsewhere since they first bought the games. Or the kid who doesn’t have access otherwise. And to a lot of people $50 a year is nothing.

Blood Dragon is the only one I actually like. Mostly for the sheer insanity of it.

This. Not everyone who loves video games has the luxury of sitting and playing for hours on end. I’ve developed a real appreciation for games that respect my time.

my first draft was going to be just posting this under a headline
