How bad does a movie have to be for DC to say it would do “irreparable harm” to their brand. Worse than Batman v. Superman? Worse than Justice League? They have Steel and Supergirl and Batman and Robin in their long-term stable. Could it really be worse than all of those actually released films?
For the first (and still to this day, only) company to own an entire superhero brand, Warner Bros. did remarkably little with it during the big boom of the genre. It could have been the company’s Golden Age and they let it go by.
Right? How bad must something be for even WB to be like “No, this will do irreversible damage to our reputation and brand.”
Okay, operating theory: Stan Lee knew actual magic and DC is literally cursed.
sources referred to the movie as “irredeemable” after test screenings.
Quick Keaton, allegedly kidnap some children and hold them in a farmhouse with a load of guns and weed. Then they’ll have no choice but to release it!
That original movie is incredibly sacred to me, so probably won’t come near this unless the reviews end up being spectacular. They’ve got a very high bar to clear even with just casting. Griffith, Weaver, and Ford were really perfect for those roles. Godspeed, remakers.
Is it me or do Zazie Beetz and Brian Tyree Henry attend the same casting calls and tag team them as they seem to always get hired together. ( I’m not complaining , love them both just noticed this is the 2nd or third movie they appear on together)
Side note: both of them are 58, somehow.
It was rumored to have Rhonda Rousey, so...
Here’s an actual article about this phenomenon: https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/culture/article/long-songwriting-credits. The short answer is, ever since the “Blurred Lines” lawsuit, studios have become more liberal about who they include as credited writers, even if it’s just a minor reference or allusion to another…
At least she didn’t spaz out like a total spaz about the whole spazzin’ thing!
I mean, Diane Warren’s written #1 songs by herself, no samples needed, but Beyonce needs 24 people and apparently a truckload of other people’s music to write a track? If I were Warren I’d be bragging.
Just went and looked it up, there’s 24 credits listed BEFORE the sampling credits.

Once more the sun comes up and a starving AVClub writer struggles to mine controversy from a mild twitter disagreement.
What’s up with the new review info box? The formatting is all fucked up. The cast list list doesn’t even have the main actors. Perhaps most importantly, there’s no release date or info on where the movie will be available, which was sometimes the most important part of these reviews.
that cast tho, Bullock and Pitt finally being cast in this and Lost City seemed like such an obvious pairing that it’s funny it took so long to happen.
Mandatory blurb about how Lundgren was a chemistry whiz (and world-class karate competitor) who had recently received a Fulbright scholarship to MIT when he met Grace Jones, became her bodyguard, dated her, and followed her advice to quit the egghead route and become an actor. The guy has more going on upstairs than…
