Bautista’s belly button tattoo is the most 2002 thing I’ve ever seen.

I define it pretty simply. My mom knew who Spider-Man, X-Men, and Hulk were. She knew Superman, Batman & Robin, and Wonder Woman.

I had no idea that I needed to know this until just now, but now that I do I’m so very, very happy.

Hulk for sure is above the B-list. He’s had his own popular TV series and the two 2000s Hulk movies more or less pre-date the MCU.

Awwww. Take my star.

So great. And shortly after we get “puny God.”

I am sure I audibly cheered or gasped or something. I couldn’t fucking believe I saw that kind of comic book awesomeness on the screen. After years of “no spandex” and comic movies often actively avoiding doing comic book-y things.

Funny, Black Widow didn’t seem broken at all in Avengers. First, she’s in complete control while her victims think she’s the one their interrogating. Next she approaches Bruce Banner with nothing but a gun. She gets Loki to spill the beans on his plan. She gets Hawkeye to snap out of his trance by beating the snot out

The shot of Iron Man firing a beam onto Cap’s shield which is then used as a reflector dish on the Chitauri remains my favorite MCU shot EVER.

You didn’t like the airport battle in Civil War?  That was the equivalent of an entire issue composed of double-page spreads.

It’s become part of the myth of the MCU about the previous status of these heroes. I’m not sure how much to dispute it.

I’m not sure I’d knock the Russos on that for the lack of such a scene in Infinity War. The movie’s storyline really necessitated the team being split up at the outset, making it impossible.

bring together a group of B-list comic book superheroes

I don’t remember disliking it that much while watching the movie.  I think the Winter Solder suit was so great that the difference was glaring when you revisit it.

“That man is playing Galaga.”

It should be noted that Galaga Guy died during The Snap the moment before he finally beat his high score.

“Interviewer: This character wasn’t in the movie, but I’m wondering if the Galaga guy from the first Avengers survived Thanos’ snap or not?

Actual cool story, bro!

At the time, they were.

My son was six when this came out and had seen some of the other movies at home, but got a little freaked out by some of the scarier scenes, so I didn’t take him to this one either. I saw it, drove home, told him and my wife to get dressed, and drove right back to the theater with them. I watched him instead of the

There’s a difference between calling them the “scrappy underdogs” and acknowledging that this was all a very risky, expensive idea. To pretend that it wasn’t is revisionist history.

Did I miss the part where Catfish said she was miserable? Plenty of non-miserable spouses still look for attention outside of their marriage.
