This felt like the first episode to me where I’m actually getting excited about where the show is going. I’m very glad that much of the table setting has been done and they can get to the north where it feels like stuff starts to actually happen. As the apparently rare person who can barely stand Lin-Manuel Miranda,

They are not. There was a somewhat recent thing stating one book per season, and they are currently trying to figure out how to tackle Amber Spyglass since it is so much longer than the other books and so much happens. Actually I just found it.

It’s just one of those perfect things, like how one of the food scientists that often does stuff for Bon Appetit and Epicurious is named Rosemary Trout.

Yeah, there’s a very quick shot of someone pulling out what looks like a school picture of him from a manila envelope.

Ok wow, just noticed on a rewatch that in the preview for next week’s episode, there’s a very quick moment where they show a picture of Will.  They really are full steam ahead!  It’s kinda funny though that with including so much so early, these episodes are just a touch boring to me.  It’s a little hard to put my

Couple quick notes that I happened to look up earlier. Grumman did study at Jordan in the books. Mrs. Coulter being able to separate wasn’t super explicit in the books, but there was the instance during the cocktail party when her monkey went into Lyra’s bedroom to find the alethiometer.

That was so good!  It was also awesome that in some of those cases she was able to show how to rescue something if it went wrong, like when she used the blow torch on the side of the mixing bowl.

That first back to back video they did together was my first BA video, and I’ve been straight up addicted ever since.

At least they fixed this one.  There’s a box office weekend report still up that’s flat out wrong because they reported on the estimates and not actuals where Maleficent 2 ended up squeaking out Joker.

Actuals have been released, and both movies ended up coming in above estimates and Maleficent barely edged out Joker to retain number 1.

That last point is definitely a rough one for me. I’m in my early 30's, but was called queer as a slur frequently and beat up with it being shouted at me.  I get why the community is trying to reclaim it, but its definitely a struggle for me to ever want to use it, and kind of just wish it would have stayed in the

God, that soap opera thing is so true.  My mom is super conservative and hates any sexually suggestive anything...unless it’s on her “stories”, and then she’s glued to the TV.

For real.  I mean, it had a freaking lesbian wedding in season 1.  It was definitely a ground breaking show.

Not to be super pedantic, but it’s not a medieval setting.  It’s a good bit past that technologically.

If you finished book 9, you can literally just skip book 10.  When I intro’d my dad to the series, he did them through Audible, and with his limited monthly book allowance I had him just skip it on his initial read through and he was completely fine.  It literally just recounts the events of the last chapter of book 9

It also helps that you aren’t waiting for years between books.  Being able to just power through makes “the Slog” (as it is known) much less of an issue.

It is shocking the number of times my family have managed to make that lathe quote since the movie came out.

IIRC, Gangnam Style was basically the big push to get youtube views included in the Hot 100 calculations.  Was crazy that it never hit #1.

That’s what the rumors have been, yeah.

It’s not even slightly meaningless. Adjusting for inflation is a crapshoot due to so many different factors. One of the main ones though is that the exchange rate in 2009 for Avatar was vastly more favorable to it than the current one is for Endgame. Brazil alone would have let it pass Avatar awhile back, but their
