you’re white knuckling those pearls you’re clutching. nobody is saying loss of life isn’t sad, but this guy obviously didn’t lose anyone and, in the face of a lifechanging event, looking at a positive.

Ryanair pulling out of all British airports then. Because there is no way that Brits will consent to flying anywhere without enough booze in them to pretty much kill an average Midwest town.

As a kid, I would have used your documentation as I sat in the car and pressed all the buttons. Then went inside and posted the diagram on my wall so I could show all my friends how much of an aspiring nerd I am.

The fact he wiped the back window at all almost made me more annoyed. Like, you started, dude, why didn’t you finish?

You could look at this through a cynical lens, or you could look at this the way Jagrjones is looking at it which is purely a bright spot in a really shitty time for a lot of people. Yes it sucks that people are dying and no amount of time is going to change that people have died due to these fires. You know what

I saw a documentary on the incredibly rigorous test to be a London black cab driver — The Knowledge. People spend years studying for it — essentially, you have to become a human GPS.

I was a college co-op engineer at the time. I could have saved you hours of stepping through the screens one-by-one. I made a chart of all the screens and how the all connected. Back in those days the tool we used to render the graphics for each screen was only black&white. In order to to get the correct blue color

Sorry, but what are “GAGES”?

I had a C4 ZR1 and that thing was one baaaad motherfucker. It was kind of a (albeit well-maintained) rat with over 100K on the clock but it could hang with the some of the big boys with the cages and the onboard fire-suppression systems all day, then drive home with the A/C and the stereo on. And it fit a 6'5' guy

It’s also the reason why car people can’t stand other car people.

And that’s what happens when you more or less reverse engineer a Ferrari 458 (IIRC), build it yourself and don’t add the Ferrari tax.

Blame the owners. They’ve managed to make it not just a car, but an identity.

I don’t need to know what’s in each trim package, I’ll be reading it off the detailed placard on the other side of the ‘do not touch’ rope at every cruise and Cars ‘n’ Coffee for the next few decades.

It is said, it will outrun any car that sells for less than a million dollars.

But...but...but.... Jorts! New Balance! Gold Chains!

For reference, the 1993 C4 ZR1 had a sticker of about 67k, which equals a little under 150k in today’s money. I don’t think it’s fair to say this is “too expensive for a Corvette” considering what it offers.

I see cars like these that are half the new car average selling price, cost virtually nothing to maintain, very little to drive regularly, and have good resale values, and scratch my head at people buying $50K gas guzzlers while complaining about egg prices.  A car is a depreciating asset.  Buy something cheap to own
