They do it here occasionally in north St. Louis County. I think it depends on how busy the street is. I haven’t seen it in the subdivisions, but I did see a bus do it on a fairly busy two lane street.

In my lifetime, roads like that were the only way to get places. The first several times we visited family in Portland from Orange Country meant miles of winding through mountains to get there.
