What kind of business makes money buying products for the same price they could probably sell it for? Carmax isn’t in the speculation or collector car business.

Yes that was even an issue for the Russian army in early 2022 with BTRs on dry rotted Chinese tires. That's also the biggest concern with post apocalypse bicycles.

Bad cars can be cool and fun. I own several bad cars.

McLaren F1 is an engineering marvel, but it’s not cool, it’s not fun, and it is ugly and overpriced.

3800 was a stout motor that will run forever. I wish it was available in better cars, or attached to better transmissions.

Not at all unusual. See Fiat X1/9, Lotus Europa and Esprit, Delorean, Fiero, etc. Easiest way to make a mid-engined car, take the drivetrain of a FWD car and shove it in the back. The Toronado/Eldorado transmission had massive torque capacity - it was even used in the GMC FWD motorhomes.

Tesla fans aren’t going to be frustrated, they are going to lap this up. “OMG, look how great and generous Elmo is!” While ignoring the ulterior motive of keeping peoples interest free loans for as long as possible AND selling them another car at the same time.

By what metrics are Vipers not great cars? Luxury and technology? Gas mileage? Daily-drivability? Ok, sure, maybe not so great.

Yes, the market is irrational. The market massively overvalued Tesla, and will drop them down again - probably not for fully rational reasons. I mean, part of Tesla’s valuation is based on Optimus, which was to enter production in 2023.
