went to pebble beach/carmel for car week in 2017, it’s an island of extreme affluence. I saw a older, shabby looking guy once and said to my cousin that i was surprised to see homeless people there. He said he knows that guy and he’s not homeless and worth hundreds of millions of dollars

I drive a nicer car as a non daily and never lock the doors. I don’t keep any valuables etc in there and would rather someone root around an unlocked car for a min than break a window or cut through a soft convertible top

That seems like ass backwards legislation. Does SF also require sexual assault victims to provide a breathalyzer to show they weren’t drunk when they were assaulted (because if they were, you know, they probably had it coming  /s  )

“...that our [giant texas] flag was still there...”

that’s a pretty big generalization. Israel’s government? Absolutely, they’re doing awful stuff to civilians that should not be happening. “The jewish people”? no group of people is monolithic in thought and motivation based on one identifying factor

“better people”? This is dumber than the “studies” that are somehow able to quantify and rank the “happiest cities”

There would absolutely be an uproar if hannah gadsby said “i wasn’t really sexually assaulted, but that thing still happens to people and we should examine it”. There honestly just aren’t a ton of people in the space of “clapter comedy”/political commentary

Yeah, the “vehicle still going” thing is always incredibly scary to see with things where you know something happened to the driver/rider.

The parlaying clout into fame/fortune was something that bothered me about the whole jussie smollet thing. Plenty of folks were saying “what does he even have to gain from this?” and were completely blind to the idea that people elevate “already famous” victims of high profile crime/impropriety, fair or not

Yep. I feel like there’s a big jump between lies/embellishment along the lines of “my friend was so wasted and did X wild thing” as a stand-up routine and poking at racial tensions which as you described, “clapter comedy” is closer to political commentary than typical comedy

but the blaccent was authentic!

the most grating, faux-intellectual/upper class twit dialect of them all. Plus sebastian gorka kind of drove any remaining charm it may have had into the ground

Yes. There is a distinct difference between “holds X opinion” and “can’t stop getting in people’s faces about X opinion”. For every chris pratt who gets top gigs there’s a james woods who can’t help himself and it costs him work

hahahaha yeesh, well we already have EVs that come in “turbo” trim. That said...

I think that’s both true and not true. Cars have more functions/parameters to control than ever before, they’re just operated via touchscreens, sub-menus etc. in lieu of everything having its own dedicated, individual button. I couldn’t help but crack up thinking about some of those 80s interior equivalents of the

The dissonance is wild that both populations chose the worst possible leadership in respect to reaching agreement and not putting its own people in harm’s way to score those sweet western sympathy points (aka $$$)

I guess you can claim something that is true, though it implies that the piece of information is disputed by others. The “techically true/accurate but mind-bogglingly worded” use of the language on this site is truly something to behold.

Yeah, I “never again”ed after absolutely nothing from the vision RX concept made it to production. not holding my breath

i still think you’re being generous

Agreed. the wheels not being enormous or having some gimmick like lighting up or turbofans seems to be a good indicator this is a near-production version
