I don’t think it really changes anything in terms of Dave’s movie. I think it’s only going to strengthen it for casual audiences, since they will be exposed to Mando in theaters instead of having to watch 5+ series to know who he is. The less “homework” audiences have to do, the better I think.

Nevermind that the opening scene in Andor one of the most critically acclaimed pieces of Star Wars media ever, opens it’s show in a literal whore house where Andor then murders two cops that were patroning said whore house.

I think the bigger mistake is that they then killed Ben Solo at the end of the movie. I think it would been a fascinating piece on the chess board of someone who came back from the darkside and has to reckon with with the terrible things he has done, whether it is in exile or something else.

It’s Ghostbusters 2016 all over again. Blaming toxic men online, blaming the studio, blaming Bob Igor, literally everyone else except the shitty movie, the people that planned it’s convoluted tie-ins and the people that acted in it.

It was stated by the director in an interview and then people ran with it. There wasn’t a marketing campaign around him being gay. There were no posters or trailers or anything. Hell if you weren’t in the know about the movie making process and not perpetually online, you would have been completely oblivious about it.

But look at what happened with the Beauty and the Beast remake. LeFou was seen dancing at the end of the movie and making eyes at a man and the right said that this doesn’t belong in a kids movie and the left was like he wasn’t sucking enough dick in the movie and wasn’t represented properly. It’s a lose-lose…
