I don’t think it’s all on Netflix. When it started there really wasn’t a lot of competition for streaming services. Now everyone and their mother is launching one, all competing for rights. All the premium cable channels, Hulu, CBS Access or whatever, Netflix, etc.

If you have Xfinity you can watch Netflix through your cable box. It’s not quite the same as it being a channel but it’s about the same as watching a regular channel on demand.

Netflix isn’t really a full service streaming service anymore. It’s an HBO rival so, they’re following their business model. Exclusive original series to get subscribers, with some movies on the side.

Yet you have time to fiddle with cable? Going directly to your content instead of having to find the right channel and time (or remembering to DVR it) is a lot easier.
