I also tired of my job after eight years. I felt that simply switching jobs and getting another boss wouldn't really change something for me. In the end, I started freelancing and that gave me a nice boost. Once again I'm happy with my work, but now in a self-employed fashion.
European here. We have a child and aren’t married. Finances are also split. We do have a joint account for groceries and daycare.
I've been doing a similar thing for years now. It's a ringtone with four seconds silence, then a single bell. This is repeated by the phone.
It's brave to share that, and I applaud you for it — it's inspiring.
It's good to hear from someone who's gone through it, and says he came out happier. Appreciate your reply, man.
Hahaha, didn't know that one!
Recently she broke up with me, and we have a baby girl. Under no circumstances did I want our daughter to notice anything but cordiality. So every now and then, I sit down and come up with reasons why it's for the best, how she probably did her very best etc. That makes it somehow more bearable. Even then, I have to…
Especially for non-native speakers (such as myself), this is immensely helpful. Sure, I'm okay conversing with people. But hitting the right note in a professional email is much harder.

Dude, it's just a habit you have or you don't have. You don't get sick or something.
I have the same but when I'm working on my own projects, there isn't a piece of paper in sight.
Does this protect a laptop? Backpacks often have a sturdy back that will stay straight, so you can set your laptop up against that.
I have a very small kitchen. You might not believe it, but with two cupboards for earthenware and utensils, there is simply no space for a bowl. I think this solution is great.
Heh I hadn't thought about it being useful in a work setting, great tip!
In the past, I'd been dealing with the stress of a divorce. I went to see a therapist and he related a good analogy. When you have to talk to your ex, this can stress you out beyond what you can normally cope with. So consider what soldiers would do: after you've been under fire, retreat, treat your wounds and rest.
And…
