This whole take is ridiculous. If I wrote this, I’d be ashamed to put my name on it.

Disliking it is not the same as not understanding it.

Spielberg’s West Side Story is a sad case and I’ve always thought it a little unfair to compare it to other musical flops, as we’ll never know what it might have done had COVID not totally screwed it over. As we all know, the movie was ready to go for Christmas 2020, but postponed a full year. Then, just as it was

(theatre school nerd here) Into The Woods is actually a longer stage show than Wicked. Yet that was one film.

I know people have complained for years about trailers that give away the whole film, but this is the first time I’ve watched a trailer and it felt like a “previously on” recap you see at the beginning of a new season of a show. Just a bit odd, especially since it doesn’t come out for another six months.

It’s probably cheaper. They’ll lean more into the noir detective stuff & reduce the CGI swinging.

Cherry-picking the language of trauma out of interviews and presenting it out of context for clicks and knee-jerk reactions is not the win one should hail it as.

While some on Twitter/X speculated that Taylor-Joy could be hinting that director George Miller was creepy or inappropriate in some way, she was very effusive toward him in the interview.

Also, she has a habit of being silly in interviews. She knows how to play the game. She’s not going to sit there and just say, “Making movies is fine. Next question.” Instead she amplifies things because she knows it’s part of the job. She’s exaggerating for effect.

“Senator Cantwell and Representative Larsen, however, are Democrats who you wouldn’t expect to undermine their constituents like that.”

LOL! Suckers.

Concept art from the designer never matches reality, AI or not.

and you’re likely to save a few cents per gallon over using the pump-mixed mid-grade gasoline

While Jeffrey Jones was very good in Beetlejuice, the absence of Glenn Shadix will be more missed, who is unable to reprise his role of Otho on account of being dead.

I hope we'll get a cameo or something by Geena Davis and Alex Baldwin

Joaquin Phoenix (who, amazingly, does not have a band, even though he seems like exactly the kind of guy who would, right?)

Wow, the AV Club is getting so much mileage out of Quiet on the Set someone might think that Olivia Wilde was directing those Nickelodeon shows.

I feel you. I got fired from the suicide hotline due to a similar misunderstanding.

This. And the entire concept of the series is that the only viable survival strategy for civilizations is pre-emptive genocide. You could imagine a universe where this holds. You could imagine, without any evidence, it’s our universe. But without such evidence, why would you want to?

I probably won’t watch this, although I am open to having my mind changed. My problem with it is although it is all well written, and I have read the trilogy, I reject the entire concept behind the first book. It doesn’t make sense that multicellular life would have ever developed in that situation, and the rest of
