Can Magic Man not just be a plot device for weird shit to happen? He likes fucking with people so he makes Jake collapse into a self-world. He's not malevolent so much as he's a mischievous asshole.
I imagine him stumbling into the interview in some elaborate farce and being too embarrassed to leave
My Kanye theory is that he's actually a really awkward guy who hides it with braggadocio. That's why he comes across so badly in interviews — he's just not great at talking!
Bill Hader is a super cool guy. I look forward to seeing him in major roles and not just scene-stealing minor roles in goofy comedies!
I liked that Linklater let the teenage philosophical ramblings sound genuinely teenage — a little dopey and a little smart at the same time.
This episode didn't amount to much, did it? I mean, story structure-wise it didn't really go anywhere. Not even "LSP goes too far and Marceline has to pull her back" or something like that. I'm down with a lot of AT's more lackadaisical installments, but this one could use a three act structure or story circle or…
In his defense, A.A. Dowd sounds like a really professional critic name
As I see it, Burton could stand to learn something from Nolan, but it goes both ways. Nolan takes the character seriously and respects his conflicts, but there's also an outsized noir quality to the character and to Gotham that Burton got a lot closer to than Nolan.
I dunno, when she dropped "re-edification" I was surprised by her cogent commentary on our culture's worship of celebrity
Seems odd to me to give a show such a big pass for lacking "quality writing?" Though the review also says it's incisive and smartly self-possessed… that sounds like quality writing! I'm so confused!
Yeah, he's quite a bit better than that description would imply. In fact, I think it's time to dub a direct Macklemore comparison libel
I miss Ice King episodes so much
The Leftovers is appointment viewing. Doctor's appointment, that is! Oy vey, what a chore!
If George Clooney's not involved, is it really a mission to Mars?
wtf is starz lol?
Why was there so little Pornstache this season? It was just weird to have his big "I'm back" scene, and then give him no individual scenes over the next two episodes until he's booted out again. Was Pablo Schreiber unavailable to shoot more than a handful of scenes? Because however you feel about the character, it was…
Despite his best efforts, he couldn't kill Community.
What the fuck is unbelievable about it? There's no explanation, that's the point. It's like saying that the magic in Harry Potter is unbelievable — it's an internal logic. You go forward, accepting "okay, in this world 2% disappeared, now what?" or "okay, in this world magic is real, do chocolate bars talk?"
I'm sorry I don't watch The Good Wife. I'm under 40. When will the reign of old fogeys end!!!?!
