Yeah, but that network isn’t built with the real needs of EV travel in mind. I’m a broken record on this, but Tesla’s killer app isn’t a big battery--it’s a network of chargers with multiple stalls placed in highway adjacent locations that make it simple to travel long distances.

SAE (and in many cases CHAdeMO)

I myself was hoping to start an aftermarket vinyl face sticker business for Model 3 customers... you know, to fund my Model S. >:)

If they observe the SuperCharger network, (which they can do remotely), they have probably already developed demand forecasts which tell them approximately when and where to build SuperChargers based on forecast sales. Any good company would do that.

“But when I ask whether or not those companies plan on either making their cars compatible with Tesla’s Supercharging network, or building their own fast-charging network to enable true freedom of movement, I get confused, befuddled looks.

Meanwhile, there are 50 plus gas stations located within a 12 miles radius (24 mile round trip) from my house.

Beautiful. Insightful. Practically poetic. This essay is as big a turning point as the Model 3 itself. GM will never get it. And I will never trust them since they screwed me with “piss-poor, half-assed” warranty service on a ‘99 Montana.

Tesla uses NCA chemistry - no "rare earth" minerals are used in Mdel S or X.

Tesla plans significantly upgrading SC network. And remember, that each car Tesla sells provides more money for their infrastructure.

I believe you should look at it like a cell phone. Is it important that a smartphone has less “range” than a Motorola flip phone? No, because you charge them overnight. Same with an electric car. If it has a day’s range, then it shouldn’t matter. Few people, after college, drive 24h a day.

I hope they make an effort to start populating rural areas with more superchargers.

Yes it will. The genius of tesla is recognizing that they needed the infrastructure first.
