This is why you can’t install old engines in cars and boats with emissions laws.  The laws are based on the year of the chassis/hull, not the engine.  New chassis: new safety and emissions.  Its just like when you get your house inspected to sell, you wouldn’t expect a 100 year old house to have modern windows and…

Do you honestly think that’s a valid comparison? Also, Factory Five doesn’t emit anything. They sell you a kit and you build it. You can build a very clean running kit car with plenty of power.

You can rebuild your old truck as much as you like. You can rebuild and resell someone else’s old truck as much as you like. When you completely replace the chassis with a new one and drop in a rebuilt pre-emission engine, that is evading emissions laws.

Whether they are new or refurbished, if they are emitting 40 to 55 times more pollution, then shouldn’t they be taken out of service if they can’t be made to at least come within a reasonable range of the newer emission standards?
