The economy of scale as you mentioned is important. I’ll still argue that the design of the brands are specific. Porsche has always been understated. Corvette has always been more loud in their approach. German cars have always been more conservative in design. If GM did go with more smooth lines couldn’t you argue…

Porsche is a luxury brand. Their target market is high end. Their R&D and manufacturing starts at the 911. The Cayman and Boxster re-use those items that have already been in the 911. It all trickles down to the entry level cars. This is cost savings.

I would prefer they keep the materials a little cheaper so it DOES NOT cost $200k.
