My daddy used to always tell me that common sense was not common.

The newer puddle-jumpers are a huge sight better than the old armbands/rings. They are Coastguard approved, buckle in the back so cant be removed by the child, cause a child to bob right back up to the top even if they go down a water slide/jump in, and make them float with head comfortably above water. Except for

Ear tubes keep the pressure from building in the ears. I know not everyone has them, but if your child does they will feel no pressure build up.

$5/month is awesome. I think ours is $13 or $15/month.

But they don’t all set the copy flag properly, some of them Time Warner / Spectrum make it nearly impossible to “record an episode” and watch it again outside of WMC.

Hard to beat 0%, challenge declined.

Serious question: What do y’all pay for cable box rental? My company charges like $5/month, which is just fine in my opinion considering I can go and trade in for a newer version if they upgrade or bring it back for a new one if it breaks. Are other companies charging like $30/month type of thing?

Your mom is lots of people.

DVRs are great for skipping commercials and recording more than one show at a time. Not everybody has a 100+Mb down connection, and so a DVR is still very useful.

I can easily skip ads with my DVR. I can’t do the same going to the network website, and while AdBlock+ works for some, it doesn’t for others. I also can save up a whole season of shows if I want to binge watch, which I can’t do as you point out. Also, some networks like CBS are obnoxious and want you to pay to access

Show of hands: who now wants to see a picture of this agent?

Sea shells?

You know, one of the best lessons I ever learned was from an old boss, and it’s that you don’t get a discount unless you ask for it. What are they going to do, kick you out for asking? No. They can only say no. What’s the downside?

They track you and jack the price up. Always do searches in private mode. Do that for all buying because everyone seems to be doing it.

Here’s one my Dad taught me that’s been valuable. Anytime you start a new job, befriend the admin assistants. Often times, they know all the info about the company long before anyone else. Being friends with them can get you the inside scoop and alert you to any trouble in advance. (These days, that might also be the

I put the $3000 down payment for our Subaru on my SPG Amex. Dealerships usually don’t want to eat the fees, but will usually make an exception if you’re willing to buy one of their upsells. We were about to have a baby, so we bought the stain-proofing for the leather seats. Win-Win!

Gotta do something. Gotta acknowledge that she’s the mother of an unborn child right now. Not doing anything implies that she’s not going through anything right now, which YOU DON’T WANT TO IMPLY.

My wife is 21 weeks pregnant with our first child. I’m not sure what the protocol is for Mother’s Day when the child is unborn. I’m defaulting to getting a card, but are there any other thoughts out there?

I would have loved to put my last car purchase on my card for the points, but the place wouldn’t let me put more than 2k on it.

I think Firefox with some specific extensions, do a pretty good job with your privacy. Sometimes you trade privacy for convenience, but you have to make sure it is worth it.
