That’s a good way to strip a gear. Usually the reverse.
I think it works ok in cars that are at least mild-hybrids or better.

I’m very against the idea of the government telling people what they can or can’t buy, but I’m not against the idea of requiring HPDE classes and adding a different restriction code for vehicles depending on the top speed and perhaps more importantly acceleration figures.
