The argument I see here is that the SC is saying there doesn’t need to be a new law for this because the necessary provisions already exist under existing law. What needs to happen is a better implementation of the law, like its adherence to ‘timely’.
I’m cool with this. In GT3 and endurance racing manufacturers happily sell the same cars they race with to privateers. Used to be that way in WRC too, but not anymore.

What’s unlocking that extra range gonna do for the longevity of the battery? Wasn’t keeping the battery soc (state of charge) within healthier limits the main reason for sealing it away in the first place?
Rear facing probably makes them safer. In the event of an accident the seat is already stopping the passenger’s forward motion, and supports the head, neck, and spine. Forces are also spread out across the whole body instead of being concentrated in the lap and shoulder belts.

Is the manual still being sold? I was checking toyota.com and the listed specs for all trims of Corolla show “CVT” as the only drivetrain.
Unless you’re telling him to buy used (or the GR), then Corolla is completely out as they’re all CVTs now.
