You see?! They weren't a one-hit wonder! People will remember Amnesia. ironically enough.

I remember it from the commercial, yeah. Thankfully, I've never seen the movie itself.
I get some cheap laughs out of that casino Clark and Eddie went to with all the terrible games. Particularly the "guess a number" table where Clark eyes down the man and then gets it wrong.
My Grandpa was born in the late 20's, but somehow kept up with most things out there these days. Maybe not in-depth, but before he died a few years ago, he knew I was a music fan and would ask about certain things. He knew when U2 was in town. He would ask me if I went to the Madonna show for some reason. I'd show him…
Woo-HOO!
A friend of mine met her at a festival and spent some time with her. Says she's so much better looking in person (he didn't imply she was otherwise in her videos and TV appearances, but it was one of those situations, I guess).
No harm, no foul! Those few year periods will all merge for us at some point, so I get them mixed-up too. ;)
That last sentence is hilarious.
Bringing Down the Horse definitely hit its stride in 1997. 6th Avenue Heartache was the only real one that got traction in 1996, while all the other singles from it got played a lot in 1997. Then 1998 was the year of their Heroes cover.
My best friend says that when he first rented the movie, he and his friend at the time kept rewinding the CD-as-a-vinyl scene and just kept laughing harder and harder each time.
On any U2 fan forum, the album's contentious, but had a fair chunk of people that say it's a favorite of theirs and how they wished they made more music in that vein. I do see signs for songs off of it at their shows too, so it does have its fans out there.
The band lifted much of the groove from Do You Feel Loved from this song… but what they did with it was pretty great. One of my favorites off there.
Fun fact… Danger Mouse really liked Pop and initially tried to push U2 into that direction of making similar music. Sleep Like a Baby Tonight is supposedly one of those songs he pushed in that direction (and a good one, at that).
I have a feeling if they kept making Pop over and over, we'd be saying the same thing.
Which, oddly enough, I remember watching with my sister when it was on… and I wasn't even a fan at the time (or a teenager).
And it took 100+ years for the Cubs to win ONE. The Indians now lie in wait (who, ironically, lost the first time to the Marlins in seven games).
I suppose Tubthumping came in later in the year, yeah. Then the song extended its stay well into 1998 too.
Same here on the years!
I heard Sugar Ray killed a man once.
Sort of like when I go to Canada and turn on the Top 40 stations, then I can't recognize under half of the artists they play. And yes, I know what CanCon is!
