3 Chars

I think all other secondary characters in this movie are indeed also props — which is yet another reason why this movie is terrible — but the fact that a character is incarcerated for no reason and then comes back like nothing happened is a good illustration of how unthoughtful this movie is about this subject.

Agreed. Also, having Rockwell’s character’s actions occur off-screen is also a complete cop out on its part. I’m not sure the movie would even work if said torture was actually depicted on screen (not that it works for me as-is, but people seem to think there’s ambiguity).

I had a boyfriend who basically pulled the same shit on a trip to the Hamptons, presumably out of some misplaced feelings of inadequacy (I wasn’t enthused about it either, but wanted to reconnect with an old friend), so I doubly hate this episode for reminding me of that nightmare weekend!

I just watched it on a plane, having not read anything about the controversy, and did not enjoy it at all. Redemption/tokenism aside, I just didn’t buy Rockwell’s character’s transformation in the second half; I don’t think it was sufficiently justified. And in a universe where there are basically no consequences for

He went to a thing.

Could definitely see that coming. This is annoying for anyone like me who doesn’t like to bring bags to shows, as those pouches are too big to fit in my pocket.

The people making those comments are almost always male. Toxic masculinity hurts everyone.

The show in question treats it as a very straightforward forbidden romance.

Literally on this very same show, a female character’s backstory is that she lost her virginity at the age of 12 to a doorman at a club while intoxicated, yet this is consistently treated as a consensual encounter and she is continuously slut shamed for it. The show exists in a world where there is no awareness of

I’m sure Dawson would have an opinion on this.

The show as a whole had trouble acknowledging the existence of rape. See also: Jen.

At least Midge got to have it!

I feel like Alexis got less charismatic as she got older; high school Rory at least had some spunk, but she started feeling a lot more self-conscious as she got older, with that baby voice and all (and if we’re bringing up Dawson’s Creek, the same is true of Katie Holmes). Maybe some actors are good at playing teens

FYI -- She might have IBS and just tells people it’s an allergy so she doesn’t have to tell people she has IBS. It’s supposedly one of the worst trigger foods.

LOL

A pet doesn’t need to be a “support animal” in order to fly in the cabin; they just need to be in a carrier and be kept in a carrier at all times (and be small enough to comfortably fit in said carrier), and the passenger has to pay a fee. And I was specifically talking about cases when non-support animals can’t fly

So should people abandon their animals when they move?

There are practical reasons for not putting a pet in cargo: the airline won’t allow it if the weather is too cold/hot and you can’t always pick when you fly or predict the weather. (This is not in defense of bogus support animals — just pointing out that sometimes pets have to fly in cabin).

To be fair, there were tons of expats at that MSG show...

This is a good point. He’s financially irresponsible in the beginning and doesn’t have enough money to buy Rory a dictionary, but since he’d presumably been a non-contributor up to that point, he should’ve been the one borrowing from his parents to pay for Rory’s school (or at least paying for half).
