All the shock and handwringing over this over the past couple of days has made it perfectly clear that the entertainment pundit class has no black friends. Because this was....not surprising at all.

He was specifically getting called out by crews during IATSE negotiations a couple of years ago for this very thing. It’s also his own production company; they’re not separate from each other.

Unlike him they don’t have a driver and have to get themselves home to get like 4 hours of sleep before they have to get up for the next day’s shoot. For 2-3 months straight. And then deal with the stress of the production being behind schedule all because one dude whose only job is to show up on time and say his lines…

Because the crew on the project then has to consistently work long days and skip lunch to accommodate him, which is not great for safety. 

His lateness was definitely known; IATSE specifically called him out for it during their negotiations. The piss in bottles on the other hand...

The joke got the reaction it deserved! The premise is fine, they could’ve done something actually funny with it but they chose the absolute laziest version. It’s barely eyeroll-worthy.

I didn’t watch this live but based on other audience reaction clips I’m guessing he had already lost them by this point and they weren’t going to laugh anyway (and the joke certainly isn’t funny enough to break through) and then some of Swift’s fans took her non-reaction as her being mad and blew it out of proportion.…

Idk how he is with clients but he has a reputation for fucking people over in business dealings. Extracting huge favors from people and then ghosting them type of stuff.

Agents typically have better connections to industry projects and brands but have large client rosters so there’s not that much face time with the client; they’re more of a matchmaker. They only collect the fee if the project/partnership was brought in through them. Managers have a limited number of clients and focus…

Her best and most real scene is when she goes off on him for playing a martyr. I feel like there was a better way to thread the needle between these different character facets so these scenes don’t come out of nowhere but I agree that she has basically no room to do so; the writing just isn’t there.

Haven’t seen Barbie yet, but I really wasn’t blown away by any of the performances in Oppenheimer though Cillian Murphy does a great job of holding the movie together so I wouldn’t be mad if he got nominated or won. As for the rest, I just don’t see it and some of them were downright distracting.

She felt like a completely different character in that scene. I’m sure some of it is the writing but she didn’t do the best job of bridging that gap and making the character feel like a real person.

They routinely take less on smaller/passion projects. Doesn’t make sense to take less on a project they’re only doing for the check especially since points are worth nothing as the studio will make sure it somehow turns out to be unprofitable.
