I like having my sesame seed bagels toasted even if they're super fresh (blasphemy, I know!) because toasted sesame seeds are delicious.
We still have Staten Island.
I guess you could put me in that category, but I don't see it as a contradiction or a rivalry; I just don't see them as the same food item, other than sharing a name & shape.
I tried one of those things in Atlanta (I think) when I had an early morning flight that was delayed, and I was starving and delirious. The look of confusion on my face when I bit into that thing had my boyfriend laughing for like 10 mins straight.
If that's the Cowgirl in the West Village, it's still around. At some point, I had a whole collection of the little plastic cows they put in their margaritas.
I think the pacing and diversity problems might be related. They have a 13-episode season with a pilot that set them up for 22, and the pacing suggests that they had a plan, but realized they couldn't resolve the story in time so they started dropping storylines (remember when they had time for musical numbers?). Rom-coms in general always feel like they have a conservative worldview to me, which is a huge part of why I find them dull. They're almost (?) always a celebration of monogamous, heterosexual relationships.
That's not really why it fell apart though… They did almost no scenes together for an entire season immediately following them getting together. THAT will kill your show.
