I think those "schlubby husband" shows are just sitcoms — there's no relationship trajectory driving the plot, or even being explored for the most part (i.e., the marriage is usually a given and there's no lasting threat of divorce).

When it’s a pointless substitution, sure (I personally find it grating when a marketing campaign uses the word “covet”), but there’s a specificity to “bodega” that the generic term doesn’t capture, and for a show set in NY, it's totally appropriate. Would you be mad if a review of a show about Detroit used "coneys"

This probably doesn't really fit here, but Cory & Topanga.

Hah, I've always thought of her as the female John Mayer…

I assumed it was on purpose… I wasn't born in the US and don't normally have an accent when I speak, but I've been told it really comes out when I'm upset (or very drunk).

Ah yes, and of course my favorite: main character with the most stable support system self-righteously raging at friends who barely have any.

If everything on the bottom shelf is covered in cat hair, it's a bodega.

As a New Yorker, I don't see "bodega" and "convenience store" as interchangeable at all, but this did remind me of a conversation I overheard between a 5- or 6-year-old girl and her mom a couple of weeks ago:

His whole "it's because I just love her too much" thing is a classic abuser excuse though.

I spent most of the week watching the OJ Simpson documentary so I was really worried about Celeste's fate, even though I had thought it was Perry all along. I was really dreading the more likely outcome of the situation.

Agreed on the interstitials, but I was impressed by how suspenseful the finale felt despite the fact that pretty much everyone knew who the "victim" would be very early on (i.e., the unveiling wasn't the suspenseful part).

Given Archie’s stink-eye response to Jughead being called Betty’s boyfriend, it seems like his public outburst at the baby shower is not entirely about protecting his dad. In which case, UGH.

The rest of the show is so dark and foggy that I was actually disoriented by how brightly lit that baby shower scene was.

Ugh, I've complimented this show before for making them seem like actual friends and now I have to take it all back — he's turning into Dawson.

Does Emily Gilmore count?

Brandon Walsh

That's likely the case; there's a set of media coverage guidelines that they can follow, but not reporting is probably safer.

I'm not an expert and it's not the leading cause of suicide, but suicide contagion is a concern (and apparently applies to fictional stories as well):

I thought the first one was the slowest/weakest of the four. The story really picks up with the second one — but if you don't like the 2nd one, you probably won't like the rest.

I was in a bookstore in Australia recently and they have a different set of covers; they're definitely less…uhh…embarrassing-looking, but I was actually a little disappointed.
