To those defending the article. I think the problem is the points are so patently obvious, and most people- even the ones with the least financial smarts- already know this. Its not really a tip.

MBNA used to have this, and I believe Bank of America canned the system when they bought them. I used to love it- it is the *ultimate* in security, and I don't know why other credit card companies don't do it.

What could possibly go wrong? How many millions of dollars (and hours) are spent each year trying to game Google's system? Now you're ASKING people to make changes to a search engine?

I've always wondered how well these things actually work. I mean, I have no way of verifying the stuff can't be found- because I have no way of knowing/using every advanced data recovery tool out there.

I've said it a million times... most places offer free Wi-Fi. I don't know why anyone would ever spend money on it (or jump through silly hoops like this) at a store of any sort.

As far as I've ever been able to tell, the only times renting is better than buying is if:

I see it being great for presentations, and more so for media center type applications of a PC- where you don't necessarily want a keyboard and mouse hanging out.
