You were standing in his pic-a-nic basket.
I truly wish video existed of this event: Kelly Kraft narrowly missed the cut at the RBC Heritage in South Carolina…
I mean, it would only figure to be a Southern expression because Cotton grows well in the deep South. One can’t pick cotton in Indiana if there’s no cotton to be grown.
To be fair, describing something as “old-timey Southern talk” doesn’t really help the case against it being racist.
I had a teacher in high school say that once.
All fair points!
I agree that it is intended as a genteel stand-in for motherfuckin’, and that there would have been no controversy had he, say, vociferously disagreed with a ref by saying “just one cotton-pickin’ minute,” a la Yosemite Sam.
I haven’t ever considered the racial connotations of the phrase, but once you do it seems pretty obvious. For my part, it just never came up before. It’s not a phrase I (or anyone under 50) use anyway.
This guy is just from another era, when Cotton Fitzsimmons was coach of the Phoenix Suns and people could say racist things without consequence.
He really crackered under the pressure.
That’s just being mean.
Oh no...we’re not numb. It’s one thing to lose to the pens, the rangers, the flyers.....but the fucking BLUE JACKETS?! I know they nearly choked away a season to the leafs last year but if they blow it against the Blue Jackets, I’m burning my signed Ovechkin jersey. No offense to him of course, this isn’t to spite…
Ugh. Ehrlich Bachman was my favorite thing on Silicon Valley, but the character was getting stale, so it’s good he’s off the show. He can be funny, but there’s lots of places to get funny.
He’s so method it’s beyond most of us.
Unlike an overwhelming majority of the others commenting, I actually like TJ Miller. I’ve been a fan of his for years. That said, he’s got a serious problem with the drinking. If he wants to keep any kind of career, he needs to seek help and get his life in order. And that’s if there’s anything left to salvage at this…
He sounds like a total jerk. But he was great in Crashing.
What are the odds on him becoming the Kal Penn of the Trump administration?
